The mayor of Cadiz and the Casino Gaditano formalized the agreement whereby the City Council becomes owner of the building and the library of the club, although members may continue to use the facilities over the next 25 years.
In return, the City Council is responsible for the debts of the Casino "that were largely originated in the process of rehabilitation of the building"- according to municipal sources.
The decision to move the Casino municipal heritage was taken at a meeting of partner owners, with the virtual unanimity of the attendees. The mayor defended the operation as a positive thing for the city since the "invaluable importance" of the library of the Foundation Center for Constitutional Studies, in which participates the council itself. She also ensured that only the price of the property on the market exceeds the 600,000 euros of debt.
The government team wants the Casino to be one of the venues where they hold events connected to the commemoration of 200 years of the Constitution of Cadiz.
