The Center for Advanced Software Technologies (CAST) of the Bangor University was authorized this week by the Gambling Commission to test gaming machines for regulations. The CAST is the first organization in the United Kingdom to be granted a license of this kind.
From now on, CAST’s Compliance Testing Laboratory will be able to test and certificate gambling devices such as slot machines, for casinos, betting shops, pubs, hotels and other gaming venues in the UK. Testers will certify randomness, social responsibility and fairness, among other features.
“We are delighted to have become the UK’s first Gambling Commission-approved testing center for gaming machines and software,” Dr. Richard Edwards, CTL Manager said. “Our staff have worked extremely hard to ensure compliance with the Gambling Commission’s stringent testing standards and we are looking forward to offering our new compliance testing services to the UK’s gambling industry.”
In order to face this new challenge, CAST has expanded its specialist-testing laboratory, hiring experts in consumer psychology, statistics and economics of gambling. The Center will also team up with Bangor University to promote social responsibility services in the gambling industry and prevent gambling addictions.
