The gaming industry has experienced such an amazing growth in Canada that now it has become the most important source of profits and employment in the entertainment field. More than 135,000 people directly work in the gaming industry, according to the research conducted by the Canadian Gaming Association.

The Association has informed that, taking into account the indirect impact of the financial activity in this sector, the total number of jobs supported by the casino industry in Canada is 267,000. Said numbers include direct jobs in gaming operations like casinos and racetracks, charities and state organizations related to gambling and employment in sectors that provide services to the gaming segment.

“Gaming has significantly grown during the last decade to become the cornerstone of the entertainment industry in Canada,” William Rutsey, CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association, explained. The net income of the gaming industry is 15.3 million dollars per year, which equals the sum of the profits of the cinema, TV, music and professional sports industries.

The government and charities receive 57 per cent of the gaming industry revenue, a total of 8.7 million dollars. The rest of the money collected goes to pay wagers, goods and services and profits.
